Accessing University Email from an Android PD Device
(e.g. Android Smartphone or Samsung Galaxy Tablet)

Setting up your Android Device to access NUI Maynooth’s Email Server to gain access to your University Email Account

Setting up your Android Device as an IMAP Email Client:

As the standard Email App that comes on some Android Devices does not allow SSL authentication it will not allow access to your NUIM Email Account.  Instead you will need to use the ‘Market’ App to download an Email App called ‘Maildroid’.  This App is free of charge.

To do this:
- Go to your ‘Market’ App
- Do a search for the ‘Maildroid’ App
- Download this App
- Now open this Maildroid App and set up email settings as follows:
- Select 'Accept' for End User License Agreement
- Select 'Next'
- Select 'Auto Setup'
- In the name@domain.com field enter your NUIM Email address
                       eg john.murphy@nuim.ie
- Now enter your password for this email account
- Then select 'Manual Setup'
- Select 'IMAP' from choose the account type
- Under the Incoming IMAP Server Section, Enter:
                        imap.nuim.ie for Server
- Switch on the 'Secure connection (TLS/SSL) option
- Under the Outgoing SMTP Server
Switch on the 'Use same credentials'
- For the Server Field, enter:
                         smtp.nuim.ie
- Switch on the 'Secure connection (TLS/SSL) option
- Select 'Next'
- Your device will now say 'Validating'
