The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is an internationally recognized qualification awarded to persons who have attained a standard level of computer competence. The Computer Centre provides this service for all staff and registered students of NUI Maynooth.
The ECDL is currently offered on a self-study basis; online tuition in each of the modules is provided in a Computer Based Training (CBT) format, this allows candidates the time required to study the course material at their own pace. This course material is provided in all our Public Access Computer Rooms (PACRs) and it is also accessible off-campus through the NUIM ECDL Portal. Candidates may study the modules in any order they wish and after each one has been completed, sit the relevant test for that module.
In order to attain the full ECDL, candidates must successfully pass all seven modules of this program within three years from the date of their first exam. However, as ECDL is not location specific, candidates may begin studying for the licence at the University and afterwards complete the remainder of the modules at another test centre.
The ECDL Licence is an invaluable IT qualification with world-wide recognition and we do hope that you will take time out to study for the ECDL during your time at NUI Maynooth.
